ABYA Report P/C Pat Carroll The guest speaker was Kevin Hertel, th 18 th District State Representative representing St. Clair Shores and Grosse Pointe. He spoke the following: Sanitary discharges into the Clinton River and Lake St. Clair, 2 billion gallons in 2017 and 1.5 billion so
far this year, with the majority coming from Oakland county. Efforts to restore the Water Quality Monitoring System.
The ban on farmers preventing placing unused fertilizer on frozen ground to dispose of it. Efforts to stop Canada from building a nuclear storage on the shores of Lake Huron. Discussed methods to control invasive species from entering the Great Lakes.
Closing down old underwater pipelines. The new ABYA Safety books are available.
Kidde fire extinguisher recall of plastic handled fire extinguishers. Get info at kidde.com Vessel Safety exams will be available at NCYC on June 2 nd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. I will have tickets for the ABYA Spring Dinner dance at NCYC on June 2 nd . Tickets are $30.00 each. Please contact me if you are interested. A reminder that ABYA will be selling discounted tickets for the Metro Boat Show this September. Will need guest dockage for 39 slips for ABYA dance at NCYC. P/C Carroll requesting members to let him know if they plan on coming to the island that weekend so he can make sure members get first choice for wells. Also mentioned the initiative to get navigation lights for the buoys in the North Channel and he will send a Fanout to remind members to go to the ABYA website and fill out the survey pertaining to the lighted buoys. Ron Draper suggested he add this reminder via a reoccurring page in the Beacon. And Commodore Pagel recommended P/C Carroll bring this topic up a May GM meeting Correspondence All None CURRENT BUSINESS Activities – Tom Martin No report Clubhouse – Scott Greenfelder Tile floor will be finished this Saturday. Finally have the proper urinal which will be installed this Saturday. Cleaning crew coming in this Saturday to get kitchen steam cleaned so we’ll have to work around them. Concern was raised about the kitchen utensils being exposed during the cleaning. Scott assured all they will get thoroughly rinsed after the cleaning. Next week will need volunteers
