A Message from Chaplain Mark Javery

NOTES FROM CHAPLAIN MARK JAVERY

I received the unfortunate news while working on this month’s Beacon that Elizabeth Trelfa’s mother; Beth, who has been ill and had been admitted into hospice care has passed away in Florida. Keep Elizabeth, Trevor, and their entire family in your prayers at this time of loss. Pray for Robert Mann and his wife Kimber. Robert was just diagnosed with advanced stage brain cancer and has started treatments. They are taking refuge in their faith and believe in the power of your prayers. Many in our club family continue to deal with chronic conditions. Some have been mentioned here, others are unspoken. God knows and hears our prayers. Having had the last 6 weeks recovering from surgery during our winter season I have had a lot of time to think, “winter who needs it”. I am used to keeping busy and feel unproductive when I’m not doing many things at a time. Yet nature does need its winter season to rest and prepare for the next season. Then my wandering mind started thinking how physically and even spiritually we as another part of God’s creation need to rest. God gave us the sabbath, a day to keep holy but under the new covenant a day of physical rest too. In our Christian spiritual life we can experience a winter season. Use these times to reflect, pray, and listen to what God may want to tell you.
