September 2023 Beacon
From The Flag As we enter the last week of our club’s season, Rachel and I would like to thank the entire membership for a great 2023 season at the North Channel Yacht club. You must admit that the weather started out slow however rebounded and the camaraderie at NCYC has been second to none. The attendance at all our events on the island have been great and the rendezvouses were nothing short of amazing. VC/PC Rick and his first lady Jill have been busy organizing the Commodore’s ball which is February 3rd, 2024, as well as a fun filled and action-packed 2024 season. The flag and board of directors would like to thank all the candidates that have stepped forward for the election on Haul-out weekend. The nominating committee has put together a great slate this year. We wish all the best of luck. This calendar year the membership has completed several large projects including the final section of the seaway, building our new garage, and installing the second walk-in cooler. We have a lot to be proud of and much to be thankful for as we continue to improve our great club year after year. In 2023 we went back to an annual membership enrollment, and it has been well over ten years since we have had a wait list at NCYC. We currently have 23 applications on the wait list as of the end of September. However, please continue to bring the “high-quality” people in your life to the club as your guests. Our members are our best recruiters, and we simply ask that you sign in with all your guests and ensure they observe the rules of NCYC while they visit. We think you will agree that the club sells itself and a strong membership is what makes NCYC a great place to be. Again, thank you to all our members for their dedication in making this the greatest club on the lake. See you at the October General Membership Meeting. Your Flag,
