AUGUST 2014 BEACON
As we head into August, itಬs time to start thinking about next yearಬs Board of Directors. Thanks to PC Tom McHugh and Committee for all of the efforts in putting together a slate of strong candidates. Thank you to all who have stepped up to run. Iಬm looking forward to working with all of you. If you are not quite ready to be a Director, but are interested in getting involved, please contact me. I have some appointed positions available. Work has begun on next yearಬs calendar. Save the date for the Annual Commodoreಬs Ball. It will be on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the ConCorde Inn. We hope to see you all there.
Many events, including a couple of new ones are scheduled and in the planning process. If you are interested in putting on an event or helping in any way, please contact me. Thank you to all of you that have volunteered so far. Thatಬs what makes this club so great! Thanks to Ian & Marie for doing such a great job on the Club Island Rendezvous. It was a great time. A little rain doesnಬt keep NCYC down! Thanks also to the Ancient Mariners for putting on another successful Horse Race Event. I always enjoy a clubhouse full of people screaming ಯNag, Nag, Nagರ! Weಬve had a lot of incoming rendezvous and guests on the island this year. While we welcome guests and appreciate every bit of revenue, I have been hearing concerns from the Membership about the number of visiting yachtsmen on the weekends. Please know that I hear what you are saying. One of the things that needs to be enforced on the weekends is to fill guest wells first. We also need to be putting boats in size appropriate wells. Moving forward, we need to strike a balance to make sure that we meet our budget while putting our members first. No one wants to feel like a guest at their own club. Even though we havenಬt had much summer weather, the summer season is flying by. There are still many weekends to take advantage of our island paradise. Iಬm looking forward to seeing you soon and hearing your thoughts, ideas and concerns.
Have a great summer. See you on the Island. Brian McEvoy - Vice Commodore
